Natick Boys defeat Framingham 1/17/19

The boys had an excellent meet last night against Framingham.  Many individuals improved upon their season best and personal best performances.  We won the meet 70-30.

Personal Best performances included Alex Edwards, Fin Greene, and Matthew Forde in the JV mile with Alex running on the edge of Sub 5 minutes at 5:01.4.  In the varsity mile, Brendan Knapp broke 5 for the first time with a 4:56.27 (BTW, his Freshman PR in the mile was 6:01 at a NN JV meet!!).  Peter Briggs, Conor McDonough, and Sam Harrington also ran personal bests.

Joe Maichen and Kai Evans ran PRs in the 1000.  Jon Klein ran a fast 600 debut at 1:32.05 and Owen McGarry hit 1:33 for the third time in a row.  He is set for a big breakthrough when we taper in the next couple of weeks.

Grady Beauregard ran a 36.75 PR in the 300 for the 5th best all time school record.  Matty George broke 10 minutes for the first time in the 2 mile with a 9:57.24, running an aggressive  4:55 first mile and running a tough 5:02 second mile for our second best indoor 2 mile since 2000.  Nick Melisi also ran a big 10:29 PR on a bad blister.

Matthew Hodges had a big PR in the shot put at 41’10” and Clifton Barnett won the shot getting closer to his proper form at 43’11”.  Sam Brown dutifully filled-in at the last minute for our fourth shot put spot.  Danny Dubsky knocked very close at sub 8 in the hurdles with a 8.01 PR, and Sumeet Nijaar had a big 9.80 PR.  We ended the meet with two very fast relays including a season best in the 4×400 by Joe Maichen, Jon Klein, Grady Beauregard, and Alec Laurent.

Our excellent training is paying off as we get close to the end of the season and the February post season.  The next JV meet is at Newton North High School next Wednesday, and our last varsity dual meet is against Wellesley on Thursday at the Reggie Lewis Center.  We will have a large group of athletes competing at the Coaches Invitational on Saturday the 26th.
